Moments in Which Life Changes Forever

There are moments, moments in which life, as we know it, changes irrevocably forever. It isn’t good or bad in itself, but terribly difficult to get through, irrespective of how you categorize it.

Standing at the airport that day, I knew in my heart that from this point on, life will not be the same. And my heart sank. Because it meant that not only the circumstances will change but also the people and reactions involved. The idea did not sit well with me.

In retrospect, I think it’s because change, be it personal, professional, or of any kind, scares us, as it takes us in to uncharted waters. Not knowing if we will remain as important for people as they are for us, is difficult to accept. But then, the beauty of change is that it inspires and at times, forces growth. In such situations, it becomes so difficult to get past this deep-rooted foreboding sense of loss. It becomes easy to get lost in despair. But, this is where content in being happy for someone else helps, the realization that it’s not about you at all, it’s just how life is supposed to happen. At a pace which sometimes you don’t like, but have to not only accept, but adopt wholeheartedly.
